Hi. Jen Troiano. I’m a wife to my best friend, Tony, and together we are blessed with sixbeautiful children through the gift of a blended family. But my story took an unexpected turn in2007. What was supposed to be a routine surgery for Graves’ Disease left me with permanently paralyzed vocal cords. I went into

the hospital with a voice and after 14 follow up surgeries I speak with a whisper. At first, it felt like something had been taken from me. But over time, I realized something
greater had been given. If I was going to live with a whisper, I would use it with purpose. I would become a voice for those who do not have one.
Years later, when Tony and I became empty nesters, our home grew quiet. Too quiet. We had restored a beautiful old home in Cleona, full of character and history—but I couldn’t bear the thought of it sitting empty of children. While serving in kids’ ministry at LCBC Church in
Lebanon, my heart kept stirring. One day I said, “Tony, I think we’re supposed to foster.” As he always does, he said, “Jen, let’s pray.”
And we did.
Two years ago, after a clear nudge from God, we opened our doors. Since then, we’ve had the profound privilege of fostering 15 children. Today, our home is alive again with the laughter and energy of two precious girls, ages 10 and 7. I often joke that I’m a “professional volunteer,” serving at LCBC and in our community with Adoption Swaption—but the truth is, this isn’t volunteering. It’s calling. It’s obedience. It’s love in action. Losing my voice taught me something powerful: volume doesn’t determine impact. A whisper, surrendered to God, can change lives. And I am honored to keep using mine for the children who need it most.
