why it matters

Diane Langberg has said, “Trauma is the mission field of our time,” and we agree. As Christ followers, we believe that we are to step into the broken and messy places, just as Jesus came to earth to be “God with us,” entering our broken and messy places. Jason Johnson says, in many different but similar ways, “Church should be a safe place for people to do hard things, and a safe place for people who have experienced hard things.” This is why we offer the equipped trainings. No matter the setting, we want adults to feel safe when ministering to all children and families.  We also want foster, adoptive, and kinship families to feel safe in your care. Our trainings provide an understanding of relational trauma, and the tools necessary to create trauma-responsive spaces where every child and family feels welcomed, safe, and valued.

parent coaching

One part of our mission is to provide Biblically-based resources and material support to help create well-equipped homes for every vulnerable child in PA. Our 1:1 parent coaching offers education, resources, and tools for parents to better support the children in their care.

testimonial

"Parent coaching with Cindy King and KeyFam has provided me with hope for a future with my child where I might better meet his needs and he may experience an improved and more secure home environment that is established for his success. Before meeting with Cindy I felt hopeless regarding my child’s high level of needs and my strained ability to cope with his alarming and inappropriate behaviors. As parents we strive to meet our kiddo’s needs—we read, we learn, we collaborate, we train, we try and then try again…and then try again, ever trying to do better/be better for our kiddos. And when it doesn’t work, we can hit a wall. Cindy has the knowledge and the ability to help us see through the wall to another side where our kiddo can be more successful. She provides concrete strategies based on scientific research not only to apply in situations with kiddos, but also (important to me) Cindy helps us make sense out of what seems unreasonable behavior. When I can wrap my head around something I’m much more intentional and ever more patient. I’m grateful to Cindy for providing a space, through coaching, for help and hope. Thank you, Cindy! "
